Onigiri & Friends Privacy Policy
Last updated: 18 October 2026. This policy covers the Onigiri & Friends game for iPhone, iPad and Android.
The under-18 protections, age reassessment and consent changes described here apply to the updated release being prepared for testing and review. Older installed builds may use the previous age threshold until updated.
In short: Onigiri & Friends has no accounts and no sign-in, and never asks for your name, email or location. Your progress stays on your device. The game is free because it shows family-friendly ads from Google AdMob. It asks for your year of birth to choose protected or adult ad treatment, and keeps only the age band and the version of the age rule used, never the year. Everyone under 18 and anyone whose age is unknown receives no advertising, and Google consent gathering and ad initialisation do not start for those players. Previously saved adult classifications are checked again in the updated release. For adults, ad personalisation depends on consent where required and applicable device settings.
1. Who we are
Onigiri & Friends is made by Every Bit Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17452895), registered office 27 Old Gloucester Street, London, WC1N 3AX, United Kingdom. Every Bit Ltd is the controller under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. Contact: hello@everybit.ltd.
2. What stays on your device
The game saves the following only on your phone or tablet. None of it is sent to us.
- Your progress: puzzles solved, coins, friends, eggs and room decorations.
- Your settings, including the difficulty you chose when you first played.
- Whether your age answer qualifies for protected or adult ad treatment, and the version of the age rule used. The game keeps only "under" or "adult", never the birth year itself.
- Small counters that space out ads, so they never appear too often.
We do not operate cloud sync or hold a copy of your puzzle progress. Device backups or transfers may include local game information under your platform settings. Uninstalling removes ordinary local files, but backups and store purchase records can remain separately.
3. Advertising (Google AdMob)
The game shows optional videos you can choose to watch for a reward, and occasional full-screen ads between puzzles. We request ads rated for general audiences (G). The ads themselves are supplied by Google and its permitted advertising partners.
- Under-18s and players whose age we don't know: no advertising is requested or shown. The game does not gather Google ad consent or initialise Google Mobile Ads for these players. Normal gameplay does not require an ad-removal purchase.
- Adults: in the UK, the European Economic Area and Switzerland, Google's consent tool asks for the permissions required for advertising. Ad personalisation depends on the choices and permissions that apply to you. The game plays the same whether or not you permit personalised ads.
For eligible adults, to show, limit and measure ads and to prevent fraud, Google's Mobile Ads software in the game sends Google information from your device. This can include:
- Your IP address, and an approximate location worked out from it (country or city level, never precise location).
- Device and app details such as device type, operating system, language, app version and network type, together with SDK crash, performance and reliability diagnostics and applicable identifiers such as app set ID.
- Ad interactions: which ads were shown, watched, tapped or skipped.
- Your device's Advertising ID (Android adults only, depending on consent requirements and device settings): for ad personalisation, measurement, fraud prevention or frequency control. Non-personalised advertising may still use an identifier for permitted measurement or frequency control. On iPhone and iPad the game never asks to track you and never reads the advertising identifier (IDFA).
We don't receive this information. Google handles it under its own policies: How Google uses information from apps that use its services and the Google Privacy Policy.
Your choices about ads
- UK, European Economic Area and Switzerland: adults can change their regional consent or sale/sharing opt-out choices from Privacy options in the game's Settings when Google requires that entry point. Supported US states receive the configured US privacy choices. Opening it stops new ad loads and clears cached ads. Fresh ads are requested only after a successful, current result says requests are permitted. A refusal of personalisation may still allow limited or non-personalised ads, depending on your choices and the applicable requirements. If consent cannot be checked successfully, ads stay off.
- Android: you can reset or delete your Advertising ID in your device's settings (usually Settings → Privacy → Ads).
4. Children
Onigiri & Friends is designed to be suitable for children. The age question has no answer preselected and never says what changes. Everyone under 18, anyone whose birth year means they could still be under 18, and anyone whose age is unknown receives no advertising or Google ad-consent requests. Because older versions used a lower age threshold and did not retain birth years, the updated release asks players with an older saved adult classification to answer the neutral age question again before ads can start. Progress, coins, friends and purchases are preserved. Players already receiving protected treatment keep it. We do not ask children to create an account or provide contact details; the advertising data flow in section 3 applies to eligible adults. There is no chat, no player profiles and no way to share anything with other players. Any purchase is confirmed by the App Store or Google Play (Face ID, fingerprint or password). Parents and guardians with questions can contact us at hello@everybit.ltd.
5. Analytics, crash reports and purchases
The game offers one optional purchase, "Remove Ads". It is handled entirely by Apple or Google: we never see your name, card or payment details, only a confirmation that the purchase was made, which the game keeps on your device so it can remove ads and restore the purchase later. After buying or restoring it, the updated release stops new ad loads and retries, discards cached ads, and grants optional ad rewards without a video. An ad request already sent cannot be recalled; any ad it returns is discarded without requesting a replacement. Late consent responses cannot restart ads after the purchase. This does not delete information already sent to Google. The game does not use a separate gameplay analytics or crash-reporting service. Google's advertising SDK still processes advertising measurement and diagnostics as described above. Optional Unity purchase analytics is disabled in the replacement release. We plan to add anonymous game statistics and crash reporting (Google Firebase), and will update this policy before that reaches the game.
6. Legal bases (UK GDPR)
- Consent: personalised ads for adults, and storing or reading information on your device for advertising where consent is required.
- Legitimate interests: supporting a free game, limiting ad frequency, and preventing fraud and abuse, where applicable and after considering users' rights and children's interests. This does not replace consent where the law requires it for storing or accessing information on a device.
7. Sharing and international transfers
We don't sell your information, and we don't share any information with anyone other than as described above. Google may process advertising information outside the UK, including in the United States. Google uses approved safeguards for this, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum and the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
8. How long information is kept
Ordinary local files remain until removed with the app. Platform backups and store purchase records have separate lifecycles and may persist after uninstalling. Google retains advertising information under its own privacy policy. We do not hold a separate copy of your puzzle progress or advertising-provider records.
9. Your rights
You have rights to access, correct and delete personal information, to object to or restrict its use, and to withdraw consent at any time. Contact us for help with privacy rights, including requests on behalf of a child, at hello@everybit.ltd. We may need enough information to identify the relevant record and verify your request without collecting more than necessary. We cannot locate Google records from local puzzle progress. Google and platform privacy controls also apply to their processing; uninstalling does not itself delete provider-held data. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
10. Changes to this policy
If the game starts handling information differently, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date before the change reaches the game. For important changes, we will also say so in the game's update notes.
